Hi,

My name is Teegan, I am the founder of Fabulous Skin Co. This is my skin journey and how I got to the point of starting Fabulous Skin Co.

 

My skin journey began, like most people, when I reached my teenage years.  Looking back I didn't have terrible skin, but to me at the time, it was the worst! My pores looked gigantic, my skin always felt like an oil slick and I had breakouts covering my face! (in reality I had a handful of pimples, but to a self-conscious teenager, it felt like my entire face!). 

 

That was when I got my first skincare products. I was told to use an antibacterial foaming face wash with a face brush (essentially a scrubbing brush) and to finish it off with a witch hazel toner....... No moisturiser, nothing hydrating! 

Looking back now, I am horrified that I was recommended such a harsh routine, but back in the 90's that is how they dealt with breakouts/acne. Strip it and dry it out! 

I followed that routine religiously, my skin was red raw and tender from lack of hydration and harsh products, my moisture barrier was non existent at that point, but I kept at it, thinking I was doing the right thing for my skin.

After graduating high school, I went on to earn my Diploma of Beauty Therapy and have now been in the beauty industry, in some capacity, for nearly 20 years.

I worked in and managed beauty salons for many years. After having children I opened an online beauty store in 2016, Ooh Fabulous! I loved researching brands and learning about their products, but still with all the skincare available on the market, I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. 

Everyone told me the breakouts would go away as I got older but they never did. When I hit my 30's I was in for a whole new surprise.... adult acne! 

I knew something was wrong and it took me 3 years to get a diagnosis of PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), which one of the side effects is acne. 

As it wasn't considered severe on the scale of acne, I was sent away with a course of antibiotics to clear it up. That helped, but didn't clear it up completely, I was still struggling with consistent breakouts, which led to paying closer attention to what ingredients were causing flare ups. Majority of the hydrating serums I was using, all contained similar ingredients that didn't seem to be agreeing with my skin, I was having to mix multiple different serums daily to try and get the results I wanted.

 

This has all led me to creating Fabulous Skin Co and our first product, The One Serum, a hydrating daily serum that contains ingredients that I have found work really well on my skin. I know I am not alone in my skin struggles, as I have helped many people throughout my career with their own skin concerns and improving their skin. 

My vision for Fabulous Skin Co is for it to be more than just a skincare brand, I want it to be a place for skin education, straightforward information and a positive community of skin lovers to help you on your own skin journey and hopefully help you to navigate this vast and every changing industry.
